What is a Will?
Will writing is the only way to be certain that your wishes are followed on who inherits your estate.
Many people are unaware that if they don’t make a Will, the provisions of the Administration of Estates Act 1925, otherwise known as the “laws of intestacy” automatically govern the distribution of your estate. These complex laws cover every family situation but don’t necessarily reflect what you would choose to do yourself.
Without a Will:
* Your loved ones could be faced with uncertainty and financial difficulties
* You are missing the opportunity to leave valued personal items, or cash legacies, to those you choose (including charities)
* No tax planning is in place
* Nobody is nominated to deal with your estate
The Killik & Co Will Writing Service offers a simple way to make a Will, tailored to your individual circumstances. The service also offers access to estate planning specialists who can help you to mitigate inheritance tax.
Once you have chosen Killik & Co to help you write your Will, we will initially take down your instructions in writing and will also address your concerns regarding inheritance tax. Our specialist and highly experienced team will then draw up a draft Will which will be sent to you with a full explanatory letter. The team is available to answer anything which may not be clear.
Once you are happy with the draft Will, a bound copy is sent to you to sign together with full instructions on what to do next. Our team then verify the “due execution” of your Will and this is then stored in safe custody, without charge. Other important documents can also be placed with it.
As part of our after-care service, clients are assisted in keeping their Wills under regular review.
