KAM: Services for intermediaries

Killik Asset Management

In January 2008, Killik Asset Management established the Professional Advisers Desk – a service to provide bespoke investment management solutions to clients of IFA’s, Solicitors, Accountants and Trust Practitioners. This service, managed by Jer O’Mahony, is proving to be a popular choice for Professional Advisers, who require an investment team to provide a bespoke and personalised approach to investment management. We operate on a partnership approach, supporting professional advisers and enhancing the investment offering available to their clients.

We are conscious that the preservation of capital in all market conditions is a primary objective for many investors. Our Absolute Return strategy aims to generate a positive return in all market conditions, through constructing diversified portfolios of investments selected from fixed income, equities, property, cash and 'alternative assets'. This approach aims to achieve stability of long-term investment returns and therefore reduce exposure to market volatility.

Killik Asset Management is an autonomous investment division located within Killik & Co’s Head Office in the heart of Mayfair. Our Multi-Asset service combines an institutional calibre investment management team with bespoke asset allocation for each client. This service is delivered by a dedicated investment team which remains accessible to clients and their professional advisers.

At Killik Asset Management, our team’s outlook for different asset classes is seamlessly integrated with each client’s evolving circumstances and risk tolerance, therefore achieving the optimal asset allocation for each portfolio. KAM Multi-Manager

The KAM Multi-Manager service is designed to maximise potential returns whilst diversifying risk. The service structures a portfolio for your client by investing in a broad range of funds, typically 10-25. Your client can choose between a number of investment mandates, based on his or her investment objectives and portfolio size.

Risk Factors
  • The value of Multi-Manager investments and the income from them may vary and you may realise less than the sum invested
  • There can be no guarantee that the underlying funds or Multi-Manager service will achieve their investment objectives
  • Some funds invest in securities that are not sterling denominated in, leading to fluctuations in the portfolio value due to movements in exchange rates
  • Closed-ended funds may trade at a discount to their net asset value for prolonged periods of time
  • Closed-ended funds may borrow to invest, thus adding to their overall level of risk

AIM IHT Portfolio

The AIM Inheritance Portfolio gives succession-minded investors the opportunity to mitigate the payment of Inheritance Tax on a portion of their assets whilst maintaining access to their capital and retaining the potential for future growth.

The rules on Business Property Relief (BPR) stipulate that qualifying AIM securities, once held for a minimum of two calendar years, will become exempt from an Inheritance Tax (IHT) perspective. IHT is normally chargeable at 40% of the value of the estate of a married couple or civil partners that exceeds the combined threshold of £624,000 (rising to £700,000 by April 2010). The AIM Inheritance Portfolio is structured such that investors retain full access to their portfolio at all times. The AIM Inheritance Portfolio is an highly flexible approach to Inheritance Tax mitigation, which compares favourably with more traditional methods.

As with all the services provided by Killik Asset Management, the team responsible have combined experience that spans the market capitalisation spectrum, asset allocation, and fundamental research into equities, fixed interest and alternative assets. This affords a degree of perspective that allows for rounded investment decision making and superior market timing.
